Rarity & evolution

Six tiers, one ladder

Rarity decides a Shard's level ceiling and stat multiplier. OG and Genesis push the ceiling higher still.

Before you claim

What exactly is a Shard?

A floating biome tied to your wallet — with a level, an element, live weather and temperature, companions, a chemical make-up and six stats. It evolves on its own every 15 minutes.

How many Shards can I claim?

As many as your $DRIFT balance. 1 token = 1 Shard, 2 = 2, and so on. Buy more $DRIFT and claim again to top up; the cap across everyone is 6,000.

Is claiming safe? Does it cost gas?

Claiming is a single off-chain message signature. It proves you own the wallet, costs no gas, and can never move your tokens or SOL.

What happens if I sell my $DRIFT?

Your Shard count follows your live balance. Drop below what you've claimed and the newest Shards release back to supply — and any OG status on a released Shard is gone for good.

What makes a Shard "OG"?

The first 6,000 Shards ever claimed are OG. Hold an OG unsold and it keeps the badge, a higher level ceiling, a stat bonus, and growing Ancestry power. It's the strongest thing you can hold in the Drift.
